Maps of Sydney show how the city changed in 250 years since colonisation

A new set of maps has traced how Sydney, first home to Aboriginal people, was irrevocably changed after Captain James Cook’s arrival in 1770 and has become the cosmopolitan city it is today.

More than a dozen maps of Sydney from the National Library of Australia and a string of other sources, including early drawings, directories and government documents, were used to create the illustrations showing changes over more than two centuries.
