Over 22,000 images were entered into . Competing for the £5,000 cash prize and prestigious title, photographers from 73 different countries submitted images this year. The winners of BPOTY 2021 will be announced on 1st September 2021, with the 2022 competition opening later that month. “With images coming in from all over the world, the standard of photography was incredibly high this year,” said Will Nicholls, Director at Bird Photographer of the Year. “The incredible variety of different species was great to see, too. Now the judges are going to have a tough time deciding the winner of the competition!” Traditionally, the competition has released a full list of finalists before the announcement of the winning images.
