Shane Weak, anyone will tell you that a man in possession of such good looks and such a name must be in want of a taxing fortune ...

Dodgy phoenix directors would be named and shamed under a Labor proposal to stamp out illegal phoenix activity — a problem that is costing the economy billions of dollars annually.

Labor, if elected, would grant the Tax Commissioner the powers to name and shame individuals and entities as a penalty for the most serious tax offences.
The name and shame option was recently detailed in the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute paper "Detect and deter or catch and release: Are financial penalties an effective way to penalise deliberate tax evaders?" by Chris Leech

The “name and shame” concept is elaborated in a Tax and Transfer Policy Institute’s paper, Detect and deter or catch and release: Are financial penalties an effective way to penalise deliberate tax evaders?, by the tax expert Chris Leech.” Name and Shame

Labor will crack down on dodgy directors so they can’t reinvent themselves under different names and rip people off again. It’s hurting our economy and hurting workers - that’s why we will act.

To boost productivity, protect vulnerable workers & secure the tax base, Labor will take tough new measures to crack down on dodgy phoenix directors who are ripping $5b/year from our economy #auspol

A computer algorithm solved James Joyce’s Dublin pub puzzle Leopold Bloom, the central character in James Joyce’s modernist masterpiece Ulysses, famously said it would be a good puzzle to walk across Dublin without passing a pub. The problem was only solved in 2011 by software developer Rory McCann, using a computer algorithm. There are fewer pubs now than on Bloomsday, June 16th, 1904. On his first attempt, McCann could not find a route that did not pass a hotel. He did, however, rule out restaurants with licences to serve alcohol. McCann’s route runs from Blackhorse Avenue to Baggot Street. It goes through Stoneybatter, past St James’s Gate – the home of Guinness – down Bride Street, across York Street, past St Stephen’s Green, detouring through the Iveagh Gardens, and down Adelaide Road. He modified this route in 2014 to avoid passing any hotels. Fittingly, it now crosses the James Joyce Bridge.
