After last week’s stunning result in the US presidential election, the stage is now set for the most comprehensive rewrite of the US tax code since 1986.

Finders, Minders, Binders, and Grinders. Figure out which you are and surround yourself with the others. Brilliant advice. Which are you? There are Four Kinds of Knowledge Sharers ...

12 years on from writing Lovemarks: the Future Beyond Brands, Accenture Interactive – a branch of the global consulting company – has produced The Love Index, following an 18 month study involving 27,000 participants in the US, UK and Brazil.

Their conclusion: Love is a science; and there is a formula – Fun, Relevant, Engaging, Social, Helpful. Spelling FRESH. Cute!

Key findings were:

  • Each industry has its own Love profile. Relevance, for example, is the highest dimension for the auto industry.
  • Disrupters that lead with Helpful, Relevant and Engaging become loved. They cite Tesla and Amazon as examples.
  • Digital companies are most prone to be loved, emphasizing the role of technology in enabling brands to be Helpful and Social. Google and Amazon are cited.
Netflix topped the study’s most loved brand Knowledge is power when shared

Reflecting on a famous Ibo proverb — “Wherever something stands, something else will stand beside it.” — Achebe considers the complementarity at the heart of existence:
There is no one way to anything. The Ibo people who made that proverb are very insistent on this — there is no absolute anything. They are against excess — their world is a world of dualities… If there is one God, fine. There will be others as well. If there is one point of view, fine. There will be a second point of view.

The agencies are considering establishing enhanced standards to increase the operational resilience of a covered entity, lower the probability of a covered entity’s failure or inability to serve as a financial intermediary, and reduce the potential impact on the financial system of a cyber event affecting a covered entity. OPM IG Federal Information Security Modernization Act Audit – FY 2016: “This audit report again communicates a material weakness related to OPM’s Security Assessment and Authorization (Authorization) program. In April 2015, the then Chief Information Officer issued a memorandum that granted an extension of the previous Authorizations for all systems whose Authorization had already expired, and for those scheduled to expire through September 2016. Although the moratorium on Authorizations has since been lifted, the effects of the April 2015 memorandum continue to have a significant negative impact on OPM. At the end of fiscal year (FY) 2016, the agency still had at least 18 major systems without a valid Authorization in place…”

“To stand up for truth is nothing. For truth, you must sit in jail. You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me. The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world. In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.”
