Sydney Cafe Society: Troy of Illy Coffee: Dramatic Acts of Kindness - Kenya 🇰🇪

“The great force of history comes from the fact that we carry it within us.” So wrote James Baldwin in 1965, in words that echo today... Dragons ....

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was leading the cross-country race at an event in Burlada, Navarre, in December 2012 when he mistakenly thought he'd crossed the finish line. In fact, he was still about 32 feet (10 meters) before the actual finish line.

Spanish runner Ivan Fernandez Anaya, poised to capture second place, had the opportunity to grab the gold, but he didn't. Instead, Fernandez Anaya caught up to Mutai and guided him into first place, gesturing to his fellow runner and rival to keep going. Later stating he didn't deserve the win, Ferandez Anaya chose honesty over victory.

Dramatic Acts of Human Kindness: Sportsmenship like no other

The lyrics celebrate glasnost in the Soviet Union, the end of the Cold War, and speaks of hope at a time when tense conditions had arisen due to the fall of Communist-run governments among Eastern Bloc nations beginning in 1989.

Every  Illy Art Collection project starts with the same, elegant canvas: the iconic, white illy espresso cup introduced by renowned architect and designer Matteo Thun in 1992.  Taking cup as muse, more than 70 of the world’s foremost artists have created collections since - no two ever alike, and each a revelation.

Illy produces a single blend of 100% Arabica beans from nine coffee growing regions,  each with unique environmental conditions that impart a characteristic flavor profile to the illy identity. The beans are meticulously selected, skillfully roasted and packaged in an air-free environment to seal in all the coffee aromas, flavours and oils.

It seems with each passing month there’s a new brewing technique, new gadgets or a shift in the idea of what good coffee actually means.
