Veronka — Pav of birthday 🎉 memories

Pav of birthday memories

Coogee Pavilion is a large and happening venue, located right off Coogee Beach, south of Bondi. Not only does it have a rooftop with four different bars and a huge wraparound balcony, but also a great downstairs restaurant.

While the downstairs of 'the Pav' is a very family friendly venue, complete with giant magnetic scrabble, ping pong and an in-house theatrette, the upstairs rooftop is an adults only zone. And from the spectacular Coogee Pavilion rooftop bar in Sydney you get a magical view of the Australian coastline and the nearby surroundings. One of the best coastal views from a rooftop bar in all of Australia, according to many.

“The best things about Sydney  are free,” resident Russell Crowe famously said — and with good reason. The Sydney limits boast over 100 free beaches (for surfing, loafing, and soaking in the sun), handfuls of stunning coastal walkways, and endless public plunge pools, national parks, and festivals sprinkled all over the city.

Harrowing CCTV footage has captured the moment a man who was refused entry to a beachside Sydney venue plunged more than three metres during a failed attempt to climb inside.

Tough Places to get into

Nina Simone never wanted her daughter to become a singer because she was scarred by her own experiences of the industry. So Lisa Simone joined the US Air Force instead and served there for nearly 11 years. But she eventually found her way back to singing with roles on Broadway (Aida, Rent, The Lion King). Lisa Simone now juggles upholding her mother’s legacy (she was the executive producer of the documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?), with writing and exploring her own songwriting and voice. We begin the interview with a gorgeous (and rare) live duet between mother and daughter from 1999.

Abandoned, abused, and suicidal: Nina Simone's daughter, 52, reveals abuse at the hands of her mother in shocking documentary

Emmy award-winning singer and composer Lisa Simone is touring a tribute show Keeper Of The Flame A Daughter’s Tribute to Dr Nina Simone.

Nina Simone, who was born 90 years ago and died 20 years ago, is a towering figure in popular music.

Simone was also a troubled and difficult woman and Lisa’s childhood was blighted by her mercurial mother’s moods.

Lisa released her first solo album All is Well in 2013, and co-produced the 2016 Oscar-nominated Netflix documentary about her mother's life, What Happened, Miss Simone?
