Ex-MP depressed over development report snub
The former independent Member for South Coast says he was depressed when several parties failed to act on a report about alleged links between Shoalhaven developers and former mayor Greg Watson.
John Hatton says he worked with researchers to compile a 48-page report on alleged links between development approvals and the team of councillor Watson.
He presented the report to the then planning minister Frank Sartor and Opposition Leader Barry O'Farrell but they did not act on it.
Mr Hatton says the report was also ignored by Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) commissioner Gerrald Cripps.
"I sent him a copy of a 48-page report showing the coincidence between non-complying development application approvals in the Shoalhaven under the previous council and major donators to the Mayor Watson-Independents [Group] campaign," he said.
However, Cr Watson says Mr Hatton has had a vendetta against him for about 30 years - since they both stood for council.
He says if there was any truth in the allegations about him they would have been investigated by the ICAC.
"There were certainly donations made to the Shoalhaven Independents Group - I've always disclosed them, I've declared them, they're open for public viewing," Cr Watson said.
"The imaginary allegations that he fabricated in his report come to nothing."
