Tatra Auto - “Once Removed”

A tin clock hung on the wall. Sometimes it stopped, sometimes it was wrong; its purpose seemed to be not to tell the time, but to ridicule it. No one looked at the clock.

Seventh child

By tradition, the president of Argentina is godparent to all seventh sons and seventh daughters born in the country; in Belgium, the seventh children are named after the reigning monarch, and that monarch also becomes their godparent.

Seven Tatra Cars

The Czechoslovakian Tatra 77 (T77) is by many[citation needed] considered to be the first serial-produced, truly aerodynamically-designed automobile. It was developed by Hans Ledwinka and Paul Jaray, the Zeppelin aerodynamic engineer. Launched in 1934, the Tatra 77 is a coach-built automobile, constructed on a platform chassis with a pressed box-section steel backbone rather than Tatra's trademark tubular chassis, and is powered by a 60 horsepower (45 kW) rear-mounted 2.97-litre air-cooled V8 engine, in later series increased to a 75 horsepower (56 kW) 3.4-litre engine. It possessed advanced engineering features, such as overhead valves, hemispherical combustion chambers, a dry sump, fully independent suspension, rear swing axles and extensive use of lightweight magnesium alloy for the engine, transmission, suspension and body.

Tatra Story

Although the Tatra car manufacturer in Slovakia is particularly remembered in connection with the production of trucks in Bánovce nad Bebravou, the development of Tatra passenger cars in Slovakia has an indelible historical trace. The Tatra Bratislava Design and Development Center was founded on July 1, 1960 in Bratislava with the task of designing commercial vehicles with a Tatra T 603 engine Tatra T 603MB.

A silence distilled from years of solitude lay on lawns and gardens. No one had lived at Pilhov since one of the grandson’s had forsaken it fourty-two years before to seek his fortune in Australia.
