Many wonder why CPA (Certified Practising Accountants) the bean-counting body is considered "mainstream media" while Crikey is not ... Far be it for me to take someone else to task for defining mainstream rivers; but I found Josh’s take rather ironic and close to the bone:
I'm hoping you can help clarify precisely what constitutes a "mainstream" media outlet, as I'm confused about where to find the Treasury's exact definition...
Would you be so kind as to provide me with a definition of the mainstream media, using a mainstream mode of communication? As email is too obscure, may I suggest a scroll of parchment inscribed with nut-gall ink using a fine camel-hair brush, delivered to me by a caravan train of nomads riding a pace of finely groomed donkeys...

Public Relations is out of the closet.

Citizens are beginning to see the role it plays in shaping public opinion. This weblog will attempt to open the curtains even wider by periodically looking behind the headlines in politics, culture, media, business and sports. The term "flack" is a perjorative in PR circles, yet this is often how the lay public (and the media) view practitioners. It is the goal of this flack to shine a brighter light on PR's subtle influence over our lives.
