Vale John Kirkpatrick

Since 2011 I was lucky enough to share yarns, ideas and intel with John and got a chance to see what a great and passionate man he was.

John was a gifted student who even completed eclectic university courses such as linquistic as he spoke French, German and Gaelic ...

As his sister, Ann, noted John was  "a good man" ... who made a difference wherever John went ...

Born in Wagga Wagga hospital,  John grew up in Mullumbimby and in the last 11 years worked in Brisbane.

Sudden and unexpected death at such young age of 49 … John has gone too soon!

As others have already noted in eulogies, in addition to being a towering intellect, he was kind, wise and generous. Johnny K will be sorely missed.

It is not the years in a life that counts; it is the life in the years.

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet eternity
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never mean to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll make a great step forward,
And find an everlasting peace,
As our special reward.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others.

John  even had nice things to say about most bosses …

PS: The memorial service brought back 5 years old sad memories of Sam aka Andrew … aka Don

Five years ago I was working on a assessment with Sam and for some reason his image of a smiling face came to my mind today ... On “Stralya Day” I always got a funny joke message and a selfie with his beer in his hand...
