Crisis is a time for unity, not selfish individualism
A nation cannot hold together when people have the attitude of every man or woman for themselves.

Cisco: Avoid coronavirus, stay home, use Webex - ars technica: “Networking giant Cisco is getting into the coronavirus monitoring and mitigation game with its Webex remote meeting property. The company notes that in the wake of mandates issued to employees to halt travel plans and/or work from home, traffic across its Webex backbone has increased significantly. Webex meeting traffic connecting Chinese users to global workplaces has increased by a factor of 22 since the outbreak began; traffic in other Asian countries is up by 400 percent or more, and free signup rates in impacted countries have increased 700 percent or more. In response, Cisco is offering temporarily unlimited usage (with no time restrictions) in all countries where the service is available (full list here), not just the ones worst hit by coronavirus. The company is also offering free 90-day licenses to businesses that are not currently Webex customers and offering free upgrades to customers whose current plan is insufficient to accommodate increased traffic due to the outbreak. In the worst affected countries, telepresence and remote work software like Webex is currently the only alternative to a complete shutdown of activities. In its press release, Cisco highlights the Nesbitt Center, an organization working with disabled young adults in Hong Kong…”

IR-2019-119, National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson Delivers Her Final Report to Congress:
National Taxpayer Advocate Nina E. Olson today released her 37th and final report to Congress in advance of her previously announced retirement on July 31. In the preface, Olson reflects on her 18 years in the job and provides her assessment of the key challenges facing the IRS and the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) in the coming years. The report also presents a review of the 2019 filling season.
“I am enormously grateful for the opportunity I have had to advocate on behalf of our nation’s taxpayers,” Olson wrote. “Amazingly, despite the challenges of complying with our multi-million-word tax code, more than 150 million individual taxpayers and more than 10 million business entities do their civic duty every year by filing income tax returns with the IRS. That is an extraordinary achievement and one we should not take for granted.”

This one really, truly isn’t rational. It’s just panic. And the run on TP is going on all over the civilized world from Japan to Europe, to your corner store On a rumor that it comes from China.
It reminds me of what I did after 9/11 and making sure the kids were safe at school: I went to the grocery store and filled the entire back of my Expedition with groceries and cleaners and toilet paper. You know why? Because I’d learned from crisis that I needed to have everything I needed and hole in. Because, you know…. That’s PTSD. It’s not rational. I have friends who work at grocery stores and they’re getting pretty tired of the crazy runs on things that are not in danger of running out.
We’re going to have a problem with Apple products (duh), some other electronics — I’ve heard people mumbling about power supplies — and some medicines. Oh, clothes and shoes, at least some brands. And there’s probably other stuff we’re going to find out is made in China when we suddenly need it.
Toilet paper is not that.
