Six feet eight inches

Wolf Klaphake stood out – in more than one sense. He was six feet eight inches (203 cm) tall, lean, with fair (later grey) hair and blue eyes. Most of the few surviving photographs depict an earnest-looking man.

A Doubtful Character is the first in the Uncommon Lives
series of online exhibitions. The exhibitions are hosted by the
National Archives of Australia and draw on documents and images from its
collections to feature the lives of exceptional Australians. Wolf
Klaphake: A Doubtful Character was launched on 7 July (the day of my escape from Czechoslovakia) at the Sydney Goethe Institute by Ross Gibbs.
