Mystery of art’s desire
Artist and socialite Dina Broadhurst has explained why she thinks people are interested in her “love life”.
Speaking ahead of a special Valentine’s Day event at Prim Haus in St Peters, Broadhurst addressed the fact paparazzi regularly snap her out in Bondi with much speculation about who she is dating.
My art is about imagination and desire and it is very provocative so it makes a lot of sense that people would be interested in that part of my life as well,” Broadhurst told Confidential, adding of her art: “It is about love and mystery, desire and emotions. It is about expressing yourself, passion, relationships.”
Her inspiration as an artist, she said, came from “personal experience”.
Broadhurst will attend The World Is Your Oyster event on February 14 with some previously unreleased artworks featuring.
It is part of a new supper club series from Sarsha Simone and Georgina Solomon. Simone said Sydney’s west was often overlooked for the CBD and eastern suburbs.
“Everyone that has been here feels like it is a south London creative precinct,” Simone said.
