The chapel in Louka in the Hodonín region is decorated with unique blue and white ornaments by the new artist Marie Jagošová. She is the successor of her aunt Anežka Kašpárková, who died this year. She took care of the chapel continuously for exactly fifty years.

It’s never too late to pursue your passion
Remember the little Polish village where every house is covered with painted flowers? Well, one 94-year-old resident of Louka, Czech Republic, is aiming to make her hometown just as charming and spends every spring and summer adorning window and door frames with majestic blue flower designs.
Anežka (Agnes) Kašpárková, a former agricultural worker, picked up the wall decoration hobby from another local woman who had been doing the same for years. Using vibrant blue paint and a small brush, she creates intricate floral wall murals inspired by traditional Moravian (southern Czech) artwork. Despite attaining both local and viral acclaim, she has insisted that her house painting hobby purely for pleasure. “I am an artist,” she stated to Czech media. “I just enjoy wall painting, and I want to help.”

Louka Monastery is one of the most significant monastery complexes in Central Europe, founded in 1190 in Louka by Znojmo appanage duke Konrad Ota with his mother, was up to 1784, when it was abolished, the centre of the artistic, economic and spiritual life of the Znojmo region.
