Step back from your monitor: Dominic Perrottet

To me, politics is a pile of tricks.

You can always count on Politicians to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.

No one party can fool all of the people all of the time; that's why we have two parties

Dominic Perrottet becomes 46th NSW Premier after winning Liberal leadership vote

I’d like to congratulate my great friend Dom Perrottet on being chosen as our new leader and becoming the NSW Premier.

One has to admire the chutzpah of Dominic Perrottet in becoming premier (“Pushing for the top job”, October 5). If his department’s oversight of icare underpaying thousands of sick and injured workers by up to $80 million, artificially inflating the state budget through the controversial $40 billion rail corporation, the endorsement of Trump and denigrating the reality of climate change were not enough to disqualify him, then surely his behaviour before the 2019 election should have. He threw the government into disarray while he demanded a move from the Hawkesbury electorate so he could spend more time with his five children at their Beecroft home. After Perrottet unsuccessfully attempted to tip out Ray Williams from Castle Hill, Damian Tudehope gave up his Epping electorate and moved to the Upper House to accommodate Perrottet’s aspirations. Now with an additional child in the clan, Perrottet is elected Premier. No wonder we have a trust deficit in our politicians. - Rhonda Seymour, Castle Hill

We are all aware of bible-waving politicians who use religion as a tool, and lack morals and ethics. Perrottet may be one of the good ones, but he will need to demonstrate it. He praised Trump’s election, mishandled icare and lacks credibility on climate change. As a mainstream Catholic I would have reservations if he is closely aligned to Opus Dei, because of their particular style of Catholicism. - Graham Lum, North Rocks

How come we choose from just two people to run for PM or Premier and fifty for Miss Australia?
