China's activities in key marginal seat affect Labor, Liberal candidates
The Labor and Liberal candidates in the seat of Chisholm both have connections with organisations supported by the Chinese Communist Party.
WA Labor MP Pierre Yang has given a lengthy radio interview defending his character and apologising for not disclosing his memberships of two Chinese organisations.
Key points:
- Mr Yang says he was naive not to know about the alleged affiliation between the groups he joined and the Chinese Communist Party
- He says he only gave legal advice to group members, not the organisations
- WA Premier Mark McGowan says he is not concerned by the non-disclosure
Liberals make first home buyer pitch as Russell Crowe backs Oakeshott
Mother's Day is a time when families get together across the country.
The same can now be said for the federal Coalition, which marked the day with a frontbench reunion rarely seen in the campaign to date.
Mothers might be great (just ask the Prime Minister) but that wasn't what had brought them together.
Here was a federal Government keen to make its pitch to voters, officially launching its campaign less than a week out from polling day.
The Environment Minister was there — defying the critics who've accused the Coalition of putting her in witness protection.
So too was the Home Affairs Minister, a man Labor is keen to highlight in Melbourne given his past statements about African gangs and his role in toppling former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Ex-Intelligence Analyst Charged With Leaking Information to a Reporter New York Times. Bill Blunden:”
This is the 3rd strike for the Intercept. No wonder they shuttered their Snowden archives. The indictment states that Hale was using a “secure” messaging platform to communicate with the Intercept reporter. Using anything branded as “secure” to contact anyone at the Intercept is akin to chatting about bomb making recipes at an airport. In other words, you will stand out like a f**king glow stick, as anyone living in Xinjiang will tell you! Also, *attention TS//SCI cleared personnel* printing out sensitive material at work unrelated to your job will set off alarms bells (e.g. DLP platform).
