A Modest Proposal for Improving Communications Between the Executive and Legislative Branches in the Age of Donald Trump
Two words… Question Time
“As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office, the public has starkly different expectations about which groups in society will gain influence – and those that will lose influence – under his administration. That’s why taxpayers are on the hook mainly for the costs of producing the swearing-in ceremony. That’s typically not very expensive (relatively speaking). Together with the luncheon hosted by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, Congress expects to shell out $1.25 million in taxpayer money.
Taxpayer dollars are expected to cover one more important facet of the inauguration: security. A security presence of nearly 28,000, including the Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is expected to be on hand. The estimated cost to taxpayers for all of that security? Somewhere around $100 million.

HuffPo: “The White House website has removed the page devoted to climate changeaction and posted newly sworn-in President Donald Trump’s pledge to undo environmental regulations and “revive America’s coal industry.” The 361-word policy outline on the new page, titled “America First Energy Plan,” makes no reference to global warming or climate change, except to note Trump’s commitment to “eliminating harmful and unnecessary policies such as the Climate Action Plan and the Waters of the U.S. rule.”
