David Jones Headquaters Heading For Mexican Melbourne

A HORROR fortnight for Premier Mike Baird has ended with the news that Victoria has stolen the head office of David Jones from right under his nose — after 178 years of DJs having its headquarters in Sydney.

A smug Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews was boasting of Bleak City’s win yesterday, with 600 David Jones staff to relocate south.

Mr Andrews put part of the reason for the move at the feet of Melbourne having a curfew-free airport and a huge container port, and admitted there had been a financial incentive — but would not reveal the detail.

Sydney banks under attack:

A Lithuanian national has been charged over his alleged involvement in a criminal syndicate, accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from Australian bank accounts. Police said the group took more than $230,000 from online bank accounts in November and December 2014.
Inspector David Vidal said the money was stolen from accounts in NSW and Queensland, before some of it was sent by wire exchange to eastern Europe.
"Police will allege that this is part of the organised criminal syndicate's method of operation," Inspector Vidal said.
Detectives allegedly discovered the criminal group in 2015 after a fraudulent transaction was detected at a Potts Point bank.
In August last year, police applied for warrants to arrest the 31-year-old man. Last week, he was arrested by Australian Federal Police officers in Perth as he tried to get on a flight to Singapore.

The woman was placed under arrest and detectives established Strike Force Marqui to investigate organised banking fraud. Operation Marqui
