Botany Sagas: Mr Blogs

Alack, for lesser knowledge! how accursed
In being so blest! There may be in the cup
A spider steep’d, and one may drink, depart,
And yet partake no venom, for his knowledge
Is not infected: but if one present
The abhorr’d ingredient to his eye, make known
How he hath drunk, he cracks his gorge, his sides,
With violent hefts. I have drunk,
and seen the spider.

Women are fast catching up with men and increasingly committing serious fraud within the Australian Public Service (APS), a new report has found. The Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) investigated the most serious cases of internal Commonwealth fraud in its report, Fraud within the Commonwealth: A census of the most costly incidents, 2010 to 2013, released this month, and found that women made up 46.6 per cent of suspects in 2012-13 compared with 40 per cent being men SES the making of fraudsters

Botany Bay  Council's former general manager Peter Fitzgerald, a long-standing senior Labor figure in local government across Sydney, visited that council's former chief financial officer Gary Goodman three weeks ago, Mr Goodman said on Wednesday...
Mr Goodman was also asked about the time Mr Fitzgerald introduced him to someone he called "Mr Blogs" outside his council office.
"Did I believe it was his real name at the time? No," Mr Goodman told the inquiry
Mr Fitzgerald faces a range of allegations, including that he once received a $70,000 superannuation "top-up" payment hand-delivered to his office in cash.
"I actually rang Lorraine and showed it to her," Mr Goodman previously told the inquiry. "I'd never seen that much money in my life, and then took it round to the general manager."
Mr Fitzgerald was later to serve acting general manager of Auburn City Council after its councillors sacked its whistleblowing general manager, John Burgess, in 2013.
He is yet to give evidence to the inquiry.
Ms Cullinane was grilled  about a range of issues, including her $40,000 annual superannuation "top-ups" and a $50,000 security system installed at her house at council's expense under its "security of servants" policy.

The inquiry has heard fraudulent invoices to Mr Mark alone date back to the late 1990s. During the call to Mr Goodman, the contractor expressed disbelief the council once paid them $60,000 for "microwave upgrades".
"I thought Jesus how, how did that get through," Mr Mark said
