Is true love a trip to a bottleshop? Vodka soaked Media Dragons tend to be attracted to Elinor Wylie’s doomy voice, scandalous life, and young death by stroke the day after she finished her last book. Boys behaving badly score their own literary genre : We tend to have a death wish after our, virgin, maiden cold disembodied river ;-) The idea was to get rich and famous and to be killed like Jimi Hendrix ... We are so drawn to the ones who drown and burn out early - some sort of compelling romanticism about death fascinates us:
If you would keep your soul
From spotted sight or sound,
Live like the velvet mole;
Go burrow underground.
And there hold intercourse
With roots of trees and stones,
With rivers at their source,
And disembodied bones.
-Elinor Wylie

Media Dragon readers are as guilty as everybody else. They are not reading some little-known Bohemian as in Czech or Antipodean poets ... Bohemian poems should not be about drinking hard, about getting hard, about getting laid, about waking up unexpectedly calm ...
Passion and power as artists, tangled in poisonous self-contempt, contempt for the world, two sides of the same coin! Here are some lines of Sylvia Plath’s, from the poem ‘Lady Lazarus’:
Dying
Is an art, like everything else.
I do it exceptionally well.
I do it so it feels like hell.
I do it so it feels real.
I guess you could say I’ve a call.

Vodka in Russian means little water. Since the average Russian guzzles a world-best 5.2 gallons/year, why were the Polish claiming rights to the very name? Vodka, elixir of the iceberg masses: Na zdarovye - To your health!
