Comerford was a city editor's city editor
He was an institution. He was the glue that held the nightside together. He did it in part with quick news responses, but he also had a quiet, sardonic kind of leadership that made it fun to be on the nightside, which all staffers didn't rush to do. He played jokes on others, and he was the butt of many jokes.
